Catalogue of an exhibition organized at the Lawrence Rubin Gallery in Milan (10 April - 22 May 2003) on the occasion of the opening of the 2003 "Salone del Mobile" (Milan's international furniture show), entitled Leon Tarasewicz meets Michele De Lucchi. It was the first individual exhibition in Italy of Leon Tarasewicz (b. 1957), a celebrated Polish painter of Belorussian origin, the artist who represented Poland at the 49th Biennial Exhibition in Venice. Tarasewicz, famous for his paintings (or rather "painterly interventions") in public spaces painted the walls and some mobile elements of the gallery, and exhibited there a large number of his most recent pictures. The exhibition was also an occasion to present the "Artista" lamp, designed by Michele De Lucchi, with a lampshade by Tarasewicz, in limited edition signed by the artists.
Apart from richly illustrated critical essays on Tarasewicz's art by most renowned both European and American art critics and interviews with the artist, the catalogue comprises full-colour reproductions of all of exhibited works by Tarasewicz, his projects for the show at the Lawrence Rubin Gallery and lampshades designs. Detailed biography of the artist, record of his exhibitions and a selected bibliography are accompanied by numerous contemporary and archival photos of the artist and his works.
