The studies offer new interpretations and seek to clarify the debate surrounding the various commissions by Massimi for Passignano, Cigoli and Caravaggio. The works of the three artists and the archival data are analysed from various angles, offering fresh perspectives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The papers written by leading scholars, Federico Berti, Marcantonio Massimo, Gianni Papi, Gianluca Poldi and Rossella Vodret, collected in this book, offer significant insights into the issue of the so-called \u2018Massimi competition\u2019 and the presence of works by Passignano in the collections of the famous Roman family.
